VIIRS Instrument

VIIRS (or Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite) is a key instrument aboard the xxx satellites. SNPP-VIIRS is viewing the entire Earth's surface approximately every 1 day, acquiring data in 21 spectral bands, or groups of wavelengths. These data will improve our understanding of global dynamics and processes occurring on the land, in the oceans, and in the atmosphere. VIIRS is playing a vital role in the development of validated, global, interactive Earth system models able to monitor and predict global changes.
